The Family Learning Virtual Sessions, organized by New Mexico Public Education Department's (PED) Office of Special Education and Public Consulting Group (PCG), offer parents and caregivers 90-minute virtual sessions designed to empower families to navigate the special education process.
Participants will explore essential topics including:
- Understanding special education rights
- Navigating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Fostering effective communication with schools and preparing for key transitions in your child's educational journey
Sessions provide practice strategies, real-world examples, and tools to build partnerships with educators, develop communication plans, and advocate for your child's inclusive education. This collaboration between the PED and PCG enhances parent and family advocacy and supports lasting positive outcomes for your child's education.
